I was going to provide a transcript to go along with this post. But I’m not going to. Not because I’m lazy, which I am, but because I’ve been working on this post for like 8 hours now, trying to get it up before the polls closed (which I didn’t, because quite frankly, my computer is a piece of shit.)

Anyways, here’s a little background info for y’all. We posted a bulletin on myspace yesterday, regarding the “Don’t Vote” issue. For more info about that, refer to the previous post, “Disenfranchisement in the 605″. At any rate, it received a lot of negative response from throughout MySpace, and we felt the need to retor. No, I didn’t cuss people out or call them blah blah blah yackety schmackety. But what I did do, I hope, is clarify my position a bit. Have a listen, if you wish.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we here at the Brookhaven Chronicles have maintained a number of positions over the years. One of those positions, in case you haven’t been paying attention, is that the United States Government is bullshit. Absolute bullshit. A crooked, corrupt, EVIL AND DOWNRIGHT WICKED body full of crooked, corrupt, Evil and Downright Wicked people. Remember the Aught Zero election? Did you really think it would stop? It hasn’t. And it won’t. Ever. So long as this nation of morons continues to allow the American system to continue.

I have a good friend, one Mr. Dan Patterson, founder of Creepysleepy.com, which is sort of a father show to the Brookhaven Chronicles. Since the days of the Creepy Sleepy podcast, Mr. Patterson went on to a position at Talkradio News in New York City, an impressive career as a New Media Evangelist, and most recently, a position with ABC News. That’s right. ABC news. He’s a generally cleancut, professional looking fellow, far from the roguish appearance of your typical Brookhaven Alumni. He’s also one of the latest victims of the United States Government’s policy of disenfranchisement of voters.

The following is an email that was sent to me by Mr. Patterson, and has also, as far as I have been able to determine, been posted on his Facebook. I want all of you, especially those of you who plan on going to vote tomorrow, to read this. And keep one other thing in mind. If you are a member of an ethnic minority, you should know that Dan Patterson is white. As white as Wonder-Bread. If HE is denied the ability, if not the right, to vote, then what do you think your racist-ass Cracker Government has in mind for those who are NOT white? Anyways, here’s the email:

Friends, Three weeks ago I applied for an absentee ballot from the state of South Dakota. I’m voting in SD because of personal affection for some running in local races. When I applied for the absentee ballot I had the woman in the County Clerk’s office walk through each step of the application with me. Today, however, I was told that I needed to send a photo ID in order for them to process the ballot. I politely informed the woman in charge of absentee ballots that when I applied I was not told of this necessity. She told me that they did not receive my application until October 27th (weeks after I had mailed it), and that there was no way for the State to get me a ballot short of overnighting it. I asked her to proceed with an overnight. I was then informed that the State would need money up front to overnight this. Disregarding the fact that paying for a ballot is shady at best, I offered to send a photocopy of my ID and pay to have the ballot overnighted. I was then told I need a FedEx number or someone in South Dakota would have to bring them cash. I would like to mention that my tone during the conversation was even and calm. I offered to make every accommodation possible in order to get my ballot. No need to point fingers, but the two different women that I spoke with were both immediately defensive - lots of sighing and aggregation in their voice tones. When I said that I don’t think it’s fair or right that I should have to pay to vote, she then told me that if the State were to overnight a ballot to me, they would have to do the same for everyone and if I had problems with that I should call South Dakota’s Secretary of State Chris Nelson. Here’s a breakdown of the conversation: “Sir, by asking us to just send you a ballot is asking us to bend the law.” “I’m not asking you to bend the law at all, I would just like to have my ballot in time to vote. Can I PayPal you the money or give you my credit card number?” “We don’t accept pay pay, won’t take a check, and have no way to process a credit card.” “So I have to have someone in the state come up there in time for you to process the paperwork and mail the ballot today?” “Yes” “Is there any other way to get you the money?” “Do you have a FedEx account number?” “No, I’m an individual and don’t think that my work should have to pay for it.” “Then no, there is no other way for you to get your ballot.” Now, I can easily afford to have my ballot sent to me, but that’s not the point. Paying for a ballot is wrong and is a clearly tactic voter disenfranchisment. How many people cannot afford this cost, either in money or time spent with bureaucracy? I will not pay or go through layers of bureaucracy to vote. I will, however, do a story on this. And encourage you to use the media tools at your disposal to talk about issues of disenfranchisement that happen in your state. Using email, Twitter, Facebook, et al I encourage you to report any and all incidents of voter disenfranchisement. Talk about it, discuss the issues and laws in your state. Paying for the ability to exercise the right of a United States citizen. That’s right. Paying for the ability to vote. Actually charging money for the ability to perform what your Government always tells you is your “Civic Duty”. Guess what, people. Or Sheeple. Or whatever…here’s a news flash for you. Your Government hates you. Don’t you think it’s time to show the same kind of disregard for them that they show for you? Don’t vote. Tomorrow, stay home. Let the people working the polls perish from boredom. Your vote does NOT matter. In fact, in many cases, your vote doesn’t even EXIST. What assurance do you REALLY have that when you fill out your ballot, it is not burned within an hour of the polls closing? Have you ever really WITNESSED the ballot-counting process? Have you seen with your own two eyes your vote being counted? I bet not. Here’s another thing to think about, too. No matter what the popular vote adds up to, it is the Electoral college which decides the result of the election. That’s right. Your President, your Chief Executive, the man to whom you delegate the power to send your sons and daughters to die in a fucking desert to enrich Haliburton…your President is elected by OTHER POLITICIANS. Not the People. Other politicians.

I suppose I could spend another several days telling you all sorts of reasons why you shouldn’t vote. Since, quite frankly, I don’t believe that many people in this nation have enough common sense or…gasp…intestinal fortitude to stand against what is clearly a bunch of bullshit. But I’m going to go ahead and rest, for the moment, upon what has already been said. Your vote doesn’t count. Want to do something about it? Start by not voting. That removes the thin veneer of legitimacy which somehow manages to keep the Military Junta in Washington afloat. Once the Regime in power loses its semblance of legitimacy, Revolution is not only acceptable. But inevitable…

Don’t vote. Not if you have any respect for yourself at all…

• Doggman, the baddest mu’fucka in da land!

So, within’ approximately one week, some of the richest men and women in this country will no doubt be throwing themselves from their top-level Executive penthouses.  Sadly, I probably won’t get to get footage of it for amusement purposes, but I suppose I can just be satisfied with the concept of poetic justice.

Former United States President Franklin Delano Roosevelt once said that “All we have to fear is fear itself” in reference to the LAST Great Depression.  This is not precisely true.  The Onion, many years later, said “All we have to fear is a crippling ten-year depression.”  That one is probably closer to the truth, but still not exactly hitting the nail on the head.  You see, I’ve been broke all my life.  I never had shit.  I grew up in a ghetto.  So did my Brother.  So did most of my friends.  We never had shit, and we grew up having to learn the hard way how to struggle.  How to live without.  And while all these avaricious assholes raped the American economy for their own personal gain, we continued to go without.  To this day, I still have nothing, save the website that you are right now visiting.  And the computer which allows me to access this website.

I can practically guarantee that the plight of the poor in this country will not be meaningfully affected by this stock market crash.  The poor will always exist.  And those who have nothing to lose tend to lose nothing.  We continue to live on, struggling, doing whatever we must to survive.  But now, I’ll have the added pleasure of watching the rich implode in amongst themselves, and that, my friends, is a very rare treat indeed!

Now, we come to the tricky part:  Assigning blame.  Not that it really matters who is at fault.  Since we as a nation have obviously failed to learn from the precedents of 1929 and 1988.  There is truly a danger to being a nation of sheep.  And the danger is that when the time comes to fight for one’s life, a sheep has no will to resist the urge to walk through the slaughterhouse door.

Are you a sheep?

Ask yourself that question, and give yourself as honest an answer as you can.  If you are not a sheep, then perhaps this is the time to rise up against those who are destroying your world.  Think about it.

Brookhaven has always provided quality content for free to anyone and everyone able to subscribe to it via an rss feed.  Brookhaven will remain free.  Because Brookhaven is NOT greedy.  Ohhhhhhh…SOOOOOO Unamerican!  What?  Not interested in making a buck?  What’s wrong with you, Brookhaven?  Where’s your sense of patriotism?

No, my friends, and in some cases, perhaps, my Comrades…no, Brookhaven will continue to be the shining light in the rising darkness which is even now finishing the job of swallowing up our world.  You can count on Brookhaven to continue to make you laugh, make you cry, make you think, make you angry, make you happy.  That is, until the good folks at Wordpress and GoDaddy also go bankrupt, and I have no more FTP or a website on which to post content…

It isn’t the end of the world, though, people.  After all, McDonalds will never go under.  Neither will Walmart.  Nor Coca Cola.  They’ve made so much money over the past century that there’s absolutely no way they will ever die.  Ever.  So there is an alternative to revolution for all who wish to employ it.  Working at Walmart.  Working at a McJob.  Yay.  American Dream!  Who’s with me?  Anyone?  (chirp chirp)

Angry yet?  At me?  Or are you angry at the selfish, good-for-nothing assclowns like George Bush and Ken Lay and Dick “THE MOTHERFUCKING PARASITE” Cheney who bled this country dry.  Saaaaaay….here’s a thought.  THEY have plenty of money.  Why doesn’t everyone show up across the street from the White House and wave signs at them.  I’m sure they’ll have a change of heart at that point and give all the money they stole back. Right?  Right?

Yes.  I, DJ Raspy, said all this.  I DARE to say it.  Despite the fact that in this day and age, the so-called First Amendment right of “Freedom of Speech” means jack shit, I said it anyways.  You know why?  Because I don’t FEAR the economy.  I have no stake in it.  And neither do you.  I mean, let’s kick out some figures here.  How many of you own enough stock in Walmart to shake a stick at?

If you think my words are controversial, you’re right.  They’re also unpatriotic and TOTALLY radical leftist.  I have never made my opinion on the issue of revolution private.  I advocate complete and utter overthrow of the capitalist system.  And at times like these, the eyes of the Sheeple begin to open as they look upon the true illegitimacy of the system in which they have placed all their faith.  Look now, my friends, upon the true body of the Beast.  Look with no further illusion or delusion upon countenance of the great Golden Calf of Babylon that our ancestors created.  Do you really want to give your lives to feed that Beast?  Really?

Hello, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the surprisingly uber-successful series known as Brookhaven Music Community Profile. This time, we have a very special guest, Florida based Hip-Hop personality, Minority, who calls us from within the confines of the South Dakota State Penitentary.

Minority was at the airport in Rapid City, set to board a plane to go meet with record company executives, with a purpose to be signed to their label. He was nabbed by authorities on ridiculously trumped up charges, and we here at Brookhaven respond thus: Considering that Minority had, so we understand, all the appropriate paperwork in order to be allowed to leave the state for the purpose of going to meet with record company executives, would the authorities of South Dakota have treated Minority so harshly had he been a Caucasian male instead of a Black Male? We think not. Racism is a problem which is far from dead here in this region, both inside and outside of the Domain of Spearfish, right smack in the center of the Evil Empire. There is not nearly the same level of cosmopolitanism in this area as in the major cities, so while racism might be kept under at least a veneer of cold civility somewhere else, here there are many who are blatantly and shamelessly racist against non-whites. There is a law on the books in the nearby town of Belle Fourche which decrees it to be perfectly legal to lynch any person of Black heritage found inside the city limits after sundown. In Lawrence County, there is a law on the books which considers any party of Native Americans three or more in size to legally constitute a war party, and thus, any citizen may shoot them. This racism is ingrained into the very fabric of the community around here, and Brookhaven is proud that we have the opportunity and the resources to take this time to call attention to this, so that any enclave where such hatred endures may come under international scrutiny. It is something to be ashamed of that people who live in supposedly “the greatest country in the world” can prove that the very slogans spouted by the forefathers are proven in the modern day, even, to be lies and shams.

Minority was kind enough to grant us this interview, on the phone from Prison. We had a bit of an experiment going here, as this is our first remote interview. It went quite well. Unfortunately, Doggman and myself were out taking care of some urgent business at the time, but Brookhaven’s own Ryan Gaddy was in the studio for this interview, and he did a very good job. • First of all, an update on the status of Episode XXI: Act V. Production is ongoing for this project, and if you happened to like the last entry in the Episode XXI Trilogy, you’re going to love this one.
